 Blackpool Zoo is about 2 miles from the sea, right next door to Stanley Park and the Model Village. There is a good bus service here from the beach. This award-winning zoo is set in 32 acres and has over 1500 animals from all round the world, including elephants, lions, tigers, gorillas, monkeys, zebras, sea lions and penguins. A new baby giraffe (Timber) was born here in December. A Dinosaur Safari is a great idea - where you can walk around a pre-historic garden in your own Jurassic Park! There are play areas, a miniature railway, an adventure play barn, the "Run Wild" Play Zone, shops, cafes and picnic areas.
